So what does a Sun Wavespell mean for us?
As we enter the wavespell of The Yellow Magnetic Sun on the 3rd May, we are reminded of the sun’s importance. Our life-giving force, it is the energy and power that sustains us on this planet and gives light and life to our delicate and critical ecosystems. Without the sun, we would cease to exist.
For aeons the sun has been represented as a religious ‘deity’ in ancient cultures and the Maya were no different. The Maya tracked everything via the sun and the stars in the universe, noting the brightest star Sirius (25 times brighter than the sun) appeared at its zenith at the end of July – hence its correlation to the start of the Mayan calendar. Also known as the Dog star (the dog days of summer is a phrase that refers to the scorching hot days of summer), ‘Seiros’ comes from the Greek word meaning ‘glowing’ or ‘scorching’. Sunrise, sunset, sunlight and shadows were recorded in the very fabric of Mayan architecture, record keeping and temple iconography. To their community, the sun was literally ‘the face of God’.
Look at the uplifting image offered with this blog post… A bedazzling sunflower stirs in the vast swirling cosmos beneath a bright blue summer sky, craning its head towards the sun as the petals positively dance with life, aliveness and joy. It wants to feel the sun’s rays and flourish – it’s growth positively depends on it! The energy for the next thirteen days is expansive and won’t allow you to limit yourself, the sun sweeps up everything into its illumined wake.
Over the last few days, the sun has certainly announced its presence in many parts of the country, which is great news, given that the UK is starved of sunshine and daylight hours at the best of times! We are often told ‘too much sun is bad for us!’. Personally, in my opinion, avoiding the sun carries with it much greater health risks. We know administered sensibly the sun rays offer physical and psychological health benefits as well as being a remedy for many illnesses and disease within the body. A lack of sun leads to low mood and depression. Research has recently shown that the use of sunscreens and the harmful chemicals they contain (Oxybenzone being the worst) carry a far greater risk of sun cancer than exposure to the sun itself. So, don’t shy away from the sun in this wavespell, bask in its warmth and energising powers.
The sun sign is numbered 20 and the ultimate seal in the solar sequence of the calendar. We have reached a level of mastery at this point as we have garnered many gifts via coursing our way through the other signs. This wave asks you to trust in divine guidance, seek out the tools for enlightenment that inspire and enliven you and offer your gift of healing to assist in the raising of planetary consciousness. Whether this is a simple daily ‘Salutation to the Sun’ a yoga posture which awakens the body’s intelligence and invites energy directly from the sun or whether it is a heart-centred meditation offering love and light into troubled spots on our planet – your light, your essence is made visible; you are the face of God and the face of God resides within you.
These are important times for humanity and the challenges in our external world are there for all to see. Astrologically Mars is still in opposition to Pluto in the earliest part of May, indicating brute force in our external world, leading to internal conflict within us. There is a sense of courage and fighting spirit which is rearing itself amongst the collective, we have all had enough of being told what to do and how to think! This wavespell asks you to address and deal with childhood wounds around parental conflict or dominating authority figures whilst growing up. Being told to do something in a way that only suits a certain agenda or minority is not harmonious to the collective spirit… of all.
This wavespell arrives to remind us to stand our ground, display our confident selves and deal with internal and external friction. The sun calls your consciousness higher but also asks you to remember what it felt like to be that divine child, connected to source in every thought and action and expressing freedom and joy as a birthright. Sometimes it’s good to ‘let go’ of the seriousness of life and become like the proverbial child again, living truly in spontaneity and joy. Nurture the inner child and bring yourself back to comforting, happy and calm memories. Magnify them in your heart. Evoke the imagination and creative spirit in play and art and any physical activity that brings you joy, like dancing, movement, travel and exploring. Become the ageless child, like a fresh sunbeam looking at life with awe and wonder.
“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” – Rumi

In the writing of these blogs, I draw on my extensive knowledge of the Mayan Sacred calendar, (The Tzolkin) of which I have been a metaphysical teacher for many, many years, as well as my own honed intuition. Whilst I am no astrologer, I have a broad understanding of astrology and draw on the current themes and transits that the astrology is presenting for us, all of these insights have a place in order to arrive at a full picture. I think many of us fondly remember long, hot summer school holidays where we would be out exploring and playing for hours on end. Days when we would we would just live in the moment and extract every ounce of joy, exploration and creativity from each second.
I think it's crucial for our mental and spiritual wellbeing to reintroduce ourselves to that inner child and allow ourselves to play, putting down the heavy burden of adulthood for a while.
Your blog post oozes sunshine and joy, ironically, at a time when our masters (elected by less than a third of the population) have decided to play God and 'dim the Sun'. I'm still hoping that Starmer has bad hearing and,…
