What does it mean and What’s in store for us?

In this next thirteen days in the Mayan sacred calendar, acute and heightened sensitivity to our environment is the dominating factor of the wave. To the point where we are reacting, both positively or negatively, with all five senses to absolutely everything going on around us. I might suggest a crawl under the duvet cover and stay there for 13 days! But (I am jesting), that would ensure we miss out on the gifts the Red Serpent has to offer.

To the Mayan culture, this wavespell is depicted by the wily but illustrious snake. Acknowledging the snake’s superiority and its instinctual allure with humankind, snakes were revered by the Mayans and treated with both fascination and respect. The snake itself is representative of the Sacred calendar, shedding its skin every year when the sun reaches its zenith. In the shedding of its skin, a new rattle develops on its tail. Every 20 days (reflecting the 20 solar faces of the calendar), it grows a new venomous fang. The central part of its skin on its spine consists of a pattern of intersecting squares, each side of the square made up of 13 scabs, representing the 13 moons of creation and mirroring the 13/20 ratio of the calendar.

Once the snake sheds its skin, it is reborn and can start anew. In this wave the snake teaches us the lesson of letting go. Cutting away old entanglements and dissolving old stories that are no longer in alignment with who we are, as well as addressing ancestral karma and karmic ties – are all themes in this wavespell. You are being urged to take a long critical look at the patterns of conditioning from the past that you may be holding on to. Do they reflect who you are in this present moment? Are you saying what you believe or echoing someone else’s truth? If you feel moved to investigate your ancestral lineage, this is also a great wave to put this in motion, who knows what connections you may find!

“To change, you must face the dragon of your appetites with another dragon; the life energy of the soul.” Rumi

Look at the powerful image created for this blog post. The goddess like woman stands, observant, almost ‘on high alert’ and like the peaceful warrior ready to move when instinct calls her. There is both a sovereignty yet sublime sensuality in her forward-facing gaze and demeanour. Her hair falls in snakelike coils and a serpent, twisted and bewitching frames her.

The carnelian amulet at her breast glows orange, encased in turquoise, suggesting energy, vitality and protectiveness, qualities paramount in this wave. In her hand she carries a golden circle, symbolic of the Ouroborus, the serpent with its tail in its mouth and reminding us of the eternal cycle of renewal.

Serpent energy is also about listening to and trusting your own body wisdom; the ability to follow your instinctual awareness and recognise that part of the body which might be holding tension, anxiety, toxicity or blockages and release them. In this wave if you feel like resting and doing absolutely nothing, then trust that this is what your body needs in that moment. If you are called to move expressively and freely then give in to this impulse also; your body wisdom may give you a different message each day throughout this wave, it is down to you to understand and express it. Serpent energy is ‘vital’, primal energy, like the blood that runs through your veins or the energy described in Hindu culture as Kundalini energy that rises up through your spinal cord, from root to crown. Do what is necessary to engage the feeling of aliveness that comes with sensual stimulation or the deep respite that comes with meditation and sleep. Barefoot slow rhythmic dance on the earth is one way to connect with this primal energy and feel the sustenance of the earth feed your nervous system and tired aching limbs.

Astrologically, there isn’t much let up in this wave. Uranus moves into Gemini from 7th July. The 7/7 gateway carries themes of mysticism and spirituality. Unless you are 84 plus in years, you will not have experienced this Uranus/Gemini transit beforehand, so it brings newness and a new way of being for many of us. Both Uranus and Gemini are associated with speed, the speed of lightning change in the collective that we have come to associate with post-revolutionary events in our history books. Uranus is the disrupter and in the sign of Gemini gives way to frenetic advancements on the world stage that may well leave us reeling in the aftermath. But just like the snake, Uranus in Gemini can give way to extraordinary flashes of potent insight, that arrive brimming with potential at lightning speed and accelerate collective growth in a heartbeat.

So…

Spend this wavespell feeling ‘connected’ to your physical body. Create some spontaneity in your life and free yourself from anything that is predictable or routine. Don’t be surprised if you are being pulled to unconventional hobbies or interests that may be regarded as ‘fringe’ and not necessarily mainstream. For instance, if you want to join a group focused on exploring extra-terrestrial life or investigating crop circles go do it! Ignore the judgmental whispers of orthodoxy and indulge whatever impulse fuels and ignites your soul!

Crystal to work with in this wave are: Red Jasper; Septarian; Serpentine; Mookaite; Ruby Fuschite and Ruby Zoisite; Turquoise; Yellow Jasper; Carnelian’ Pineapple Calcite; Amber; Orange calcite. Carry them, wear them and sit them near you as a point of focus. Many are available on the website.

Happy Serpent Wavespell!

Jacky

The Snake…

“reached down from a fissure in the earth-wall in the gloom

And trailed his yellow-brown slackness soft-bellied down, over

the edge of the stone trough

And rested his throat upon the stone bottom,

And where the water had dripped from the tap, in a small clearness,

He sipped with his straight mouth,

Softly drank through his straight gums, into his slack long body,

Silently”.

Thank you, Jacky! Let's hope a few snakes on the world stage shed their skin and reveal who they really are so we can move forward without their toxicity.
